Workshop (Tuesday Morning)

For participants who are able to arrive a little earlier, we are offering a free workshop on Tuesday, February 2nd. The workshop has a maximum capacity as written in the registration system. Please select the workshop you would like to attend when registering for WiPSCE. The workshop is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The pre-conferece workshop will take place at the same place as the conference.

• Workshop 1 : Data Science Unplugged (and Plugged In). At what age can we start teaching about data science and artificial intelligence? What about first grade? We tried and children loved it. And then we used the exact same material for teaching managers, who liked it, too.

  How does it fit into curricula? Perfectly, actually. Discovering patterns in data can fit — and actually enrich — any school subject. What about discovering climate zones of southern Asia (instead of just "presenting" them, as is usually done) and learning about clustering at the same time? Discussing our favorite books and at the same time realize how video sites recommend videos and online stores recommend products based on our previous views and purchases? Trying to win rock-paper-scissors to get a basic understanding of how large language models produce text?
